Digital Collage
Title: What the Sky Holds
Size: 60.96 x 91.44 cm Medium: Digital Manipulation 20 September 2015 I created this piece to represent the importance of family. I was influenced by Rene Marrgritte on his piece The False Mirror. I demonstarted his influence on the background of the piece and the significant meanings. |
Inspiration
The False Mirror by Rene Margritte
I was inspired by Rene Margritte piece The False Mirror. I was drown immediately by the deepness of the sky in the eye. The eye was so realistic and had a depth that made me fall in love with the piece.
The meaning behind the piece is that the eye is selective and subject. I wanted to add on the deepness and meaning behind the piece to connect it to my own.

Process |
I began by taking pictures of the hands right away. Beginning with that would give me the advantage of cropping out the hands and getting the difficult part of the collage done. I carefully cropped the hands out and faded out the edges of the hands to soften the background and have everything blend in with the sky. I added on the background after the hands had been edited. Following that I added a filter over the piece to give it a glowing look to it.

Reflection |
Originally this piece was going to be completely different but going through the process I changed my mind on the whole meaning on what I wanted to create. The meaning behind my piece changed after I noticed that I wasn't getting my point across. I wanted my piece to represent the big meaning behind it.
Reflecting on the process of creating this digital collage, I noticed that my lack of photoshop skills were represented through this piece. I could have blend out the cropping a lot better. Also I could have edit the background lot better to change make it a lot more interesting. This has been the hardest piece Ive done because I had to step out of my comfort zone and have a deep meaning behind it. I was struggled a lot because I had to use a medium that I didn't understand. Photoshop was extremely complicated for me to understand. Despite the difficulty creating it, I loved the final results. |
