Inspiration
Barbra Kruger was my inspiration for my piece. Barbra Kruger is a feminist artist who designs images with texts pieces over lapping a black and white picture. For this project her influence on my piece is heavily demonstrated. She influenced me on using a black and white images and showcasing a strong message over it. Since Barbra Kruger's work is heavily based on feminism I decided to follow her steps and base my work on feminism as well. For my piece I wanted to showcase how media portrays and thinks of women who ware headscarfs. Not only is my meaning behind my piece influenced by her but the style of art work is also inspired by Barbra Kruger. I created my piece focusing on the main elements that make Barbra Kruger's work so significant and easy to be distinguished. My intentions on making the photograph black and white came from Kruger's work backgrounds on her work. The text piece was also influenced by Kruger's work on having the background of the my text be bright red to overlap the bright red on Kruger's pieces.
Process
My process began with photographing my friend and focusing on the eyes. After getting the photo that I desired I then went on to edit it. My process of editing began by filtering the image in black and white, after that I then followed up with a justing my the image through adding shadow and light to contrast her features. After editing the image I followed with creating the bar that had "More than you think." This process was incredabily changeling because of my lack of skills on creating graphic designs. Not only was creating the bar difficult but placing it correctly and straight was complicated. I decided to go the easy way out of things for creating the bar by using basic font and putting it over a red blank block. I decided to do this because of the challenges I kept on encountering so I decided to go simple on it.
Experimentation

|
The process above is my process of experiencing on editing the image I was going to use for my project. I experimented with editing the image through color by adding a high dosage of contrast on the image. I also experimented on seeing how the image would look like if I put the maxim exposure to light.

These are poses of my experimentation on the poses I tried for my project. Most of them are focused on different angles of the eyes that I photographed. I also tried photographing vertically to what was the best pose for my project.

Reflection
This piece has been one of the most meaningful to me out of all the pieces I've ever created. So while I was creating it I truly put a lot of meaning behind even the process of creating it I faced many challenges. One the first challenges was photographing my piece. I had many difficulties doing this because I was really indecisive on what image I wanted to use on top of a lot failures on getting the right images. I photographed my friend in many poses and experimented on the poses until I decided to focus on the eyes. Through focusing on the eyes it was easy for me to choose what image I was going to use for my project. Another one my struggles had to be creating the bar that went over the eyes. I struggled a lot on trying to find text that resembled Kruger's work. On top of that Placing the bar on straight and in the right spot was another problem on its own I had to focus on trying to make sure that everything was perfectly alined with the eyes. Despite my struggles on my piece I am pleased with the finishing piece. I believe that the meaning behind my piece has be easily demonstrated and resembles Barbres work.
