Milwaukee Flag
Planning
I began my flag by narrowing down what Milwaukee is about. I wanted to create a flag that represented all the important factors that made Milwaukee what it is. I wanted to tie the history and future of the city.
I wanted the flag to be simple and crisp. The design had to follow the same idea as well. The design had to be one of a kind and be simple for anyone to draw. The most important part that was that I wanted my flag to be easily know.
Process
Beginning with the process of my flag I began by singling out all of my favorite parts of the flags that I created. The symbols I chose had all the qualities that I needed like simplicity and clarity. The symbols I chose were two triangles on each side of the flag that represented the rich history and the future of the city. I began by making the whole background of the flag white to look clean the dark blue on triangles represent the city colors and lake Michigan. I also wanted to keep the same color as the flag of Wisconsin. The two blue corners give it symbolic meaning and colors gives the flag the representation of Milwaukee.
I designed the flag by begging with an all white background because I knew I wanted the simplicity and clarity of white. Also I wanted the flag to just have a pop of color to be easily know. I drew two horizontal line from each side of the corners of the flag to divide the corners of the flag. Then I began by adding the dark blue to each side of the corners.
