Insipration
Pablo Picasso- Pregnant Woman |
Damien Hirst-VerityThis piece inspired me throw the artist use of detail and texture. I used the texture of this piece as inspiration for my flower coming out of the stomach. The detail of this statue inspired me to focus of the main components of the woman's body.

Process
|
I began my process of creating this piece by first finding inscription in artist. I researched a number of artist that had done pieces to what I wanted to do.
I then began by sketching out how my piece was going to look and what was I gonna incorporate in it. I also wanted to see where was I going to add texture of the culture and what parts of it was I going to bring out. I started to create my sculpture once I had all my ideas and sketches planned out for piece. I began with a chunk of clay and craved out a figure of a woman. After carving out the figure of the woman I began by cutting off all the extra clay off and began to mold my sculpture. Once I had gotten my sculpture to the fire I began by smoothing out the entire piece. After that was done I began by adding the woman's stomach and breast. After all of the final pieces were added on I began to smooth out her stomach and breast along with her body. I had the entire sculpture done and now all that I had to do was create the flower and measure it to see if it would fit into the whole in the stomach. The flower was the last thing I added to the piece. |
Reflection
This piece was challenging because it had to be made out of clay. Clay was hard for me to work with at the begging but the more I used it the better I got at using it. A success of this piece was the over base of the sculpture. I feel like did a great job with creating actual figure of a woman and emphasized the curves. Another success of mine was creating of the flower. I had sketched out a flower I wanted to make and I was able to create it and add detail to it as well. Overall I believe that this sculpture was a big success for me. I was able to displace my idea properly and can have people understand the meaning of the piece with out actually trying to figure it out.
