Summer Project
Self Portraits
Process
I began my process of self portraits by photographing myself with different face expressions so I would have a variety of images to base my work on. I then followed up with collecting all types of materials that I could draw myself with. I experimented on drawing myself with pencils, pens, color pencils, sharpies, crayons, and water colors. Each self portrait had its highs and lows while some had more lows than highs I still highly enjoyed experimenting on what Im able to create myself with. Out of all of the materials I used water color came out being the most difficult for me to work with. I had to redo my self portrait a handful of time when I was suing water colors because I kept failing on creating my self portrait. But pushed through and was able to come out with something decent. The easiest material that I worked with was pen and pencil. I was able to blend and shadow with the pencil. Using pen I was able to have clean crisp lines. Overall the process of creating these were all chnagellging in their own way.
Still Life
Process
I began my process of still life by finding ordinary everyday things and sketching them including people. I began my still life sketching by beginning to first sketch an ordinary item. After doing 3 types of every day ordinary things I then followed to sketch bigger items and included people to my sketches. The hardest of still life items that I drew had to be the perfume bottle for its shape. It was tough trying to sketch it out and have the right shadowing on it. The hardest bigger very items had to be the chair. it was complicated because of the legs and the shading on that as well. As fro these sketches as well they were complicated but fun to experiment with and find what I'm able to do or not do.
ACT Questions
1. I was able to identify the cause -effect relationships between my work and my inspiration by demonstrating my inspiration through my work in rough sketching techniques. The relationship is clearly identified because my inspiration was overall rough and messy sketching techniques.
2. The overall approach of my theme regarding my inspiration has to be rough sketching. Its rough drawings because Im sketching through a rough technique for all of sketches basing it on my inspiration.
3. The generalizations that I've discovered through my research has to be generalizations on ideas. While I was researching I came across many themes within sketching and saw that everyone has their own way of sketching weather there clean sketchers, to messy sketchers. Everyone has an idea to what sketching means to them..
4. The overall theme to my inspiration is rough/ messy sketching. I choose it this way to best express myself freely and see what I'm cable of doing thorough sketching quickly and messy.
5. The type of conclusions that I came across while reading my research that there is no right way of doing anything when it comes to sketching but more of it being a personal preferences.
